The project for the restoration of the Monument to Tsar Osvoboditel in Sofia is an example of care for the cultural heritage and the preservation of the historical symbols of Bulgaria. This monument is dedicated to the Russian Emperor Alexander II, known as Tsar Liberator, and commemorates the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule in 1878.

The monument was opened in 1907 and was created by the Italian sculptor Arnoldo Dzocchi. Over the years, it has become an important symbol of the country's national identity, but time and atmospheric conditions have left their mark. This is what necessitated the need for a restoration intervention.

The purpose of the restoration is to restore the original appearance of the monument, preserving the authentic materials and details. The main challenges included cleaning the patina from the bronze statue, strengthening the base as well as removing layers and dirt caused by climatic conditions and the urban environment. Special attention has also been paid to the conservation of the marble parts and the restoration of the original inscriptions and decorative elements.

The result of the restoration is a renovated monument that combines historical authenticity and modern conservation techniques, allowing future generations to enjoy this national symbol in its full glory.
